Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using ManaBurned to find the best prices on Magic: The Gathering singles.

What is ManaBurned?
ManaBurned is a price comparison engine for Magic: The Gathering singles. We scan over 600 game stores across Canada and the United States so you can find the cheapest copy of any card in seconds — without checking each store individually.
Is ManaBurned a store? Can I buy cards here?
No. ManaBurned is not a store. We show you where cards are available and at what price, but when you click "Buy," you leave ManaBurned and complete your purchase directly with that store, under their own policies.
How do I search for a card?
Type at least two characters into the search bar at the top of any page. An autocomplete dropdown will show matching cards with thumbnails. Click a result (or use the arrow keys and press Enter) to go to that card's detail page with all available offers.
What do the condition grades mean?
Stores grade cards on a standard scale:

NM (Near Mint) — Like new, minimal handling
LP (Lightly Played) — Minor edge wear or light scratches
MP (Moderately Played) — Noticeable wear, still sleeve-playable
HP (Heavily Played) — Significant wear, creases, or whitening
DMG (Damaged) — Major damage affecting card integrity
Scan — The store has photographed or scanned the exact card rather than assigning a traditional condition grade. What you see in the listing image is the actual card you'll receive.

Grading is subjective and varies between stores. A card listed as NM at one store may be closer to LP at another.
What are Scan cards?
Some stores — most notably Face to Face Games — list cards as Scan instead of giving them a standard condition grade like NM or LP. This means the store has individually photographed or scanned the card so you can judge its condition yourself from the listing image.

Scan cards appear with an indigo ⎘ Scan badge and can be filtered using the Condition selector on any card detail page. When you click through to the store, you'll typically see a high-resolution photo of the front (and sometimes back) of that specific card.

This is especially common for high-value singles where buyers want to inspect the exact card before purchasing.
What do the finish labels mean?
Regular — Standard non-foil printing
Foil — Traditional foil treatment
Etched — Etched foil with a textured pattern

Some sets include special treatments like Surge Foil, Galaxy Foil, or Textured Foil. These appear as separate listings so you can compare prices for exactly the version you want.
How do I filter offers on a card page?
The card detail page has several filter buttons above the offers table:

Printing — Select a specific set or edition (e.g., only Revised or only Modern Horizons 3)
Finish — Show only Regular, Foil, or Etched
Condition — Show only NM, LP, etc.
Currency — Switch between CAD and USD

Filters combine — you can show only NM Foil copies from a specific set. Click a filter again to clear it.
Why do I see the same store listed multiple times?
A store can have several copies of the same card in different conditions, finishes, or printings. Each listing is a separate offer — for example, one NM copy at $5.00 and one LP copy at $3.50 from the same store. These are not duplicates.
How fresh are the prices?
Each offer shows a freshness indicator next to the store name — a colored dot with a timestamp like "2h ago." Stores are synced on a rolling cycle that typically takes 12–24 hours to cover all 600+ stores.

Green dot — synced within the last 30 minutes
Yellow dot — synced within the last 2 hours
Orange dot — synced within the last 12 hours
Red dot — synced more than 12 hours ago

Prices can change at any time on the store's site. Always confirm the price and availability on the store's checkout page before purchasing.
What currency are prices shown in?
ManaBurned auto-detects your currency based on your timezone — Canadian visitors see CA$, everyone else sees US$. You can switch manually using the currency selector in the top navigation bar. Your preference is saved for future visits.

Offers are shown in the store's native currency. A Canadian store's prices appear in CAD; an American store's in USD. ManaBurned does not convert between currencies — the prices shown are exactly what the store charges.
What is the price history chart?
On every card detail page, the Price History tab shows how the lowest and highest in-stock prices have changed over time. You can view 7-day, 30-day, 90-day, 6-month, or 1-year ranges.

The chart also marks set release dates so you can see how new printings affect prices. Use the scrubber at the bottom to zoom into a specific date range.
Can I embed a price chart on my website or blog?
Yes. On any card's Price History tab, click the Embed button to copy an iframe snippet. Paste it into your site's HTML. The embed auto-detects dark/light theme and updates with live data. You can customize the time range with a ?days=30 parameter.
Why can't I find a specific card?
ManaBurned only shows cards that are currently in stock at one or more stores. If no store has the card listed, it won't appear in search results.

Also check your spelling — the search uses the official English card name from Scryfall's database. Nicknames like "Bob" for Dark Confidant won't match. Try typing the first few letters of the real name instead.
Why does a card show 'no offers available'?
This means the card exists in our database but no store currently has it listed in stock. This is common for older or highly sought-after cards. Check back later — inventory updates continuously as stores restock.
How do I request a store to be added?
Visit the Stores page and use the "Request a Store" link at the bottom. Email us the store's website URL and we'll investigate adding it. The store must be a North American game store with a public online catalog.
I'm a store owner. How do I get listed or removed?
ManaBurned indexes publicly available product listings. If you'd like your store added, email contact@manaburned.com with your store URL.

To opt out, email us and we'll remove your store within 48 hours.
Are prices guaranteed to be accurate?
We do our best to keep prices and availability as fresh as possible, but they are sourced automatically from store websites and may occasionally be stale, inaccurate, or out of stock by the time you click through. Always confirm the final price and availability on the store's own checkout page. See our Terms of Use for full details.
Does ManaBurned use cookies or track me?
ManaBurned uses no advertising or tracking cookies. We store a minimal currency preference in your browser's local storage. See our Cookie Policy for details.
